On Tuesday, February 15 at 8:30 a.m., the Austin City Council, Mayor Steve Adler, and other City of Austin leadership will honor community heroes, volunteers, first responders, and City staff who played a critical role during Winter Storm Uri in February 2021.  This includes a proclamation declaring February as Winter Storm Uri Remembrance Month and a moment of silence for those who lost their lives due to the impacts of the winter freeze.

Volunteers, City employees and nonprofit organizations who provided mutual aid will be in attendance to accept the proclamation on behalf of the countless Austinites who supported each other during the storm. Uri began on February 13, 2021, but the demand for basic needs, such as bottled water, food and safe housing, continued well after.

This event is open to the community and anyone wishing to be acknowledged for their efforts. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided after remarks.
