It was another busy July 4th weekend for police officers across Central Texas and he Austin Police Department’s latest No Refusal Initiative helped pull dozens of accused drunk drivers off of the streets.
Police ramped up their enforcement each night between June 30 and July 4. During that time a total of 41 people were arrested for driving while under the influence. A breakdown of the numbers is as follows:
Blood Search Warrants: 16
Consent Breath Samples: 24
Consent Blood Samples: 1
Of those arrests, the following number had additional DWI charges:
Consent Breath Samples over .15 = 10
Class A Misdemeanor DWI (with prior conviction) = 4
Felony DWI (2 or more prior convictions) = 5
Felony DWI Child Passenger = 1
Intoxication Assault = 0
Intoxication Manslaughter= 0
