Lake Travis is considered to be one of the deadliest lakes in Texas. Ten people died from drowning in Lake Travis last year, and already this year there have been three drowning deaths. One of those deaths occured over the July 4th weekend where a swimmer died two days after being recovered from the water. Now, officials with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding that death.
According to TCSO, deputies responded to a call on July at 7:45 pm at Mansfield Dam Park. The victim had been rescued from the water by family members and a bystander, and CPR was underway when they arrived on the scene.
On July 6, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office says out of respect for the family involved, and because this is not a criminal incident, no information about the victim’s identity is being released.
