Ottowa Senators acquire goaltender Cam Talbot from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson

On Tuesday, the Minnesota Wild traded goaltender Cam Talbot to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson. Minnesota will not retaining any of Talbot’s salary.

The 35-year-old Talbot posted a 32-12-4 record with a 2.77 goals against average and .911 save percentage last season.  The trade to the Senators will make this Talbot’s sixth team in his NHL career.

24-year-old Gustavsson joins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Minnesota. He recorded a 5-12-1 record with a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% last season.  This is the second trade involving a goaltender in consecutive days for the Senators. On Monday, Ottawa traded goalie Matt Murray to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Wild (53-22-7) finished second in the Central Division before losing in the playoffs to the St. Louis Blues. The Senators (33-42-7) missed the playoffs, placinf seventh in the Atlantic Division.
