APD to Conduct Labor Day DWI Enforcement Effort

Breathalyzer test being conducted

The Austin Police Department will be conducting a Labor Day DWI Enforcement Initiative in an effort to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities due to drunk driving.

This DWI initiative will run in conjunction with the DWI No Refusal Initiative funded by the Austin Transportation Department, which will continue to be in effect every Thursday through Sunday with an additional day on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th.

This DWI initiative is an effort to enforce DWI laws and to encourage drivers to make responsible decisions.

“The Austin Police Department focuses on saving lives on the streets and highways of Austin and making Austin roadways safe for everyone through education and enforcement. This enforcement period is provided through an Impaired Driving Mobilization grant from TXDOT,” APD says in a press release.

This initiative will be in effect from Friday, August 19th, thru Monday, September 5th.
