CTRMA to Break Ground on Barton Skyway Ramp Project

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority announced Tuesday that it is set to begin construction on the Barton Skyway Ramp Relief Project at the end of January. The Project will add pavement for auxiliary and merge lanes on southbound MoPac at the Bee Caves Road and Barton Skyway entrance ramps. These improvements aim to alleviate congestion at Winsted Lane, Enfield Road, Bee Caves Road, and Barton Skyway, and improve travel time throughout the corridor.

“Backups between the Bee Caves Road and Loop 360 cause congestion extending far beyond those short limits,” Executive Director James Bass said, “We hope to provide meaningful relief to the region with these improvements.” By providing additional space for travelers to merge, travelers on MoPac are expected to remain in motion, reducing the bottleneck currently caused at these ramps.

Construction is expected to begin on Jan. 31, 2023. During construction, travelers can expect weeks long ramp closures as well as occasional lane closures on southbound Mopac. Mainlane closures are expected to be limited to off-peak hours, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Construction is anticipated to be complete in early 2024.
