The Spring Break season is quickly approaching, and the Austin Police Department will be increasing its focus on drunk drivers.
Two initiatives will run consecutively, APD said.
The Texas Department of Transportation will focus on getting more officers on the street to make traffic stops between March 3rd and March 19th. The second will focus on gathering evidence in DWI arrests and will occur each night from March 9th through March 19th.
During the No Refusal period, driver suspected of drunk driving can have their blood forcibly drawn if they refuse a breath test.
