March proved to be a record-breaking month for Texas as the state reached new highs for labor force size, the number of people employed, and overall job count. That’s according to the Texas Workforce Commission’s latest jobs report. The total number of people employed in Texas is now nearly 14,900,000, which is the most ever recorded in the state’s history.
78,800 new jobs were added to Texas payrolls in March.
State unemployment held steady at 4.0 percent, but the Austin-Round Rock region is down at 3.5 percent. In Travis County specifically, that rate is 3.4 percent.
The top three areas with the lowest unemployment rates are Midland at 2.6 percent, followed by Amarillo’s 3.1 percent and Bryan-College Station’s 3.2 percent.
Since March 2022, more than 575,000 jobs have been added across the state.
