In his first start after the season-ending injury to QB Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings’ rookie quarterback Jaren Hall was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion against the Atlanta Falcons.

In his first two possessions, Hall completed 5 of 6 passes for 78 yards, the longest a 47-yard strike to a wide-open Alexander Mattison. Hall led the Vikings down to the Atlanta 4, and on a broken third-down play he attempted to scramble his way into the end zone. Atlanta’s Jeff Okudah met him before Hall could cross the goal line, intensely hitting Hall and leaving him flat. Hall stayed down for a minute and was taken off the field by the Vikings trainers. He was taken back to the locker room where he was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Hall, a rookie fifth-round draft pick out of BYU, was making his first start in place of Kirk Cousins. Joshua Dobbs, who was acquired in a trade this week with the Arizona Cardinals, took over for the Vikings in Hall’s place. Dobbs started last Sunday for the Cardinals. He played all eight games for the Cardinals, going 1-7.
