The City of Pflugerville has determined the cause of a major gas leak on Wednesday that forced the evacuation of more than a half-dozen homes.
City officials reportedly notified residents that the gas leak was affecting an area from Mallard Pond Trail to Hanging Rock Drive. Emergency crews evacuated seven homes in the immediate area out of an abundance of caution. Pflugerville police were in direct contact with the affected residents.
At this time, it appears the leak was caused by accidental damage during construction by a third-party utility contractor, the city said. Pflugerville Fire and Police responded to the area to assist with traffic control and safety assessment.
There were no reports of any illness or injury connected to the gas leak.
