Former Austin Fire Department arson investigator Marcus Reed has been sentenced to a year in jail, ten years probation, and a $14,000 fine following his conviction of aggravated perjury. His conviction stems from a complaint made by a woman in 2017 who says he lured her into his city-owned car and then sexually assaulted her. Reed then reportedly got into the Austin police reporting database to get her information to contact her, then lied about it.
A separate sexual assault charge resulted in a mistrial and will be retried next year.
