Apple’s most powerful computer ever, the redesigned Mac Pro will be manufactured in Austin.
The announcement came from Apple CEO Tim Cook, who thanked the Trump Administration for lifting tariffs on parts Apple will import from China. Austin Mayor Steve Adler told Fox Business News he’s excited that Apple is expanding again in Austin. “The city hasn’t offered any to Apple associated with this, other than just providing a great quality of life for Apple employees. And it has quite frankly an environment in the city that the employees that Apple wants to hire want to live in Austin, Texas and we’re real pleased about that.”
Adler touted the labor pool in Austin that was attractive to Apple. “We also have a pretty developed workforce here in the city and I think one of the reasons that Apple is expanding is because of the people that are already here.” Adler said earlier this year Apple already announced plans to spend one billion dollars to build a new North Austin campus .
Gov. Greg Abbott said the move is “A testament to Texas’ unrivaled workforce and premiere business climate.”
