Amid growing opposition, the Pflugerville City Council approves a re-zoning request for a 3.8-million-square-foot facility.
This is more than 93-acres on Pecan Street, directly adjacent to the Bohls neighborhood where more than 200 people have signed a petition against a rumored Amazon planned distribution center. Bohls resident Jeff Lopez says 18-wheelers will be running 24-hours a day, “the intersection of 685 and Pecan…that’s horrendous now. And the short dialog and discussion yall had with the city staff did nothing to alleviate that.”
Noise and pedestrian safety are also concerns. The city considers this as a new opportunity to generate revenue amid the backdrop of a new property tax revenue threshold. The city hasn’t confirmed the company behind the facility, but unconfirmed reports say it is Amazon.
