The Pflugerville City Council is catching flack for proposing a rise to the property tax rate.
Former Pflugerville Mayor Jeff Coleman — now a private citizen — chided the council for even considering raising the tax rate, reminding them of an unofficial agreement they all reached in 2005 to lower taxes each year by a half-cent.
A number of residents have expressed concern over not being able to continue to live in their homes if the rate of more than 50-cents per $100 value is adopted. Much like in Austin, Pflugerville is trying to generate as much revenue as possible before new caps kick in for 2021.
