3. AUSTIN SUED OVER A LACK OF TRANSPARENCY

A lawsuit has now been filed against the City of Austin over the planned South Austin homeless shelter.  Ellis Peterson is the man behind the suit….He claims the city is refusing to be transparent in its decision to buy the building for $8.9-million, despite its appraised value being only $3.5-million.  The suit says Peterson filed three public information requests and was not provided any real information.

4. ROUND ROCK ISD WEIGHS PROS, CONS OF POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Round Rock school board will continue to consider its security options as discussions over forming a district police department continue….A task force has given the board three options it feels are the most viable.  They include continuing to contract with law enforcement for SROs, forming a police department, or alternative options like marshals and mroe hall monitors.

5. STAMPEDE PROMPTS CALLS FOR SAFETY AT UT GAMES

Some people are calling for more safety at UT football games following a stampede of bodies trying to get into the stadium for the LSU game…UT senior Mrianda Larralde says she’s never seen the crowd push and shove the way it did, and she tells CBS Austin people were rushing to get a good seat.

“People panicking because they paid, you know, $175.  It’s like, I want to see, you know?” she says.

She wants to see more reserved seating in the stadium.  Athletics Director Chris Del Conte says his department is looking into improvements that might be able to be made for future game days.
