It’s part of AISD’s newly released draft that includes 40 scenarios, among the biggest of which is the closure of those 12 schools. Ten of them are elementary schools, with the other two being Webb Middle School and the Sadler Means Leadership Academy. This list comes following six straight years of enrollment declines and budget problems.
Closing the schools will no doubt have a ripple in terms of demographic and boundary shifts. AISD is aiming for a more equitable and inclusive learning experience.
The board will be presented with the draft on Monday, and a vote is planned for next month.
