Home sales set an all-time high in Central Texas in July, and that includes an increase across the entire five-county metro area.

5. GROWING ANGER OVER HOMELESSNESS

There was an increased sense of frustration among the more than 1000 people who attended last night’s forum on Austin homelessness.

Mayor Steve Adler says he’ll be moving quickly to identify ten sites — one in each district — for new shelters, but he promises they will not be like the ARCH.

“We can’t repeat that experience anywhere in our city because wherever we do it, it has to work so well that we have, as a community, an opportunity do it a second, a third time,” Adler says.

Today, Adler will release a city memo detailing the places around Austin where public camping will be banned.
