The City of Austin increases height limits for buildings around West Campus

UT Campus

The West Campus area will be getting taller. Building height requirements have been amended, now allowing for some to span as much as 125-feet higher as long as specific requirements are met.  Allie Runas with the West Campus Neighborhood Association said Riverside has become unaffordable for students, and West Campus may be their last hope, “the only question is how dedicated we are, to Austin’s youngest residents looking for independence and stability, in such a formative time of their lives.”
Builders would have to include either 20{15c2ce8669a1ed2f74ebf6ef168f05679f17d95790f1cbb6a225857870a08390} of units to someone making less than $40,000 a year, or a total of 30{15c2ce8669a1ed2f74ebf6ef168f05679f17d95790f1cbb6a225857870a08390} of all units restricted to only low-income tenants.
