The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is partnering with the Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Secretary of State, and the Texas A&M McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship will kick off its Empowering Texas Veterans initiative at a press conference November 12 in Austin. The goal of the initiative is to help veterans break into the alcoholic beverage industry in Texas, officials say.
The program will assist veterans who wish to start their own business in the industry. TABC and the Texas Veterans Commission will pair prospective business owners with mentors from veteran-owned businesses within the alcoholic beverage industry. Those mentors will advise and assist the protégés throughout the process of obtaining a TABC license or permit, as well as the other steps associated with starting a business.
The announcement is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12 at Hi Sign Brewing, 1201 Bastrop Highway in Austin.
