The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close the southbound I-35 mainlanes on Sunday to allow crews to place beams for the Stassney Lane bridge. During the closures, traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads.
Sunday, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., the southbound I-35 mainlanes will be closed between US 290/SH 71 and south of Stassney Lane as crews set beams for the new Stassney Lane bridge. Drivers will have to exit southbound I-35 at Stassney Lane (exit 229) and will be able to re-enter the highway at a temporary entrance ramp just south of Stassney Lane. Lane reductions will begin at 10 p.m. Both southbound I-35 flyovers from US 290/SH 71 will also be closed. Traffic will use the frontage roads to access the interstate.

The Stassney Lane bridge will also be closed at 8 p.m. During this time, drivers needing to travel east or west along Stassney Lane will be detoured south to William Cannon Drive or north to US 290/SH 71. Additionally, the northbound I-35 left lane at Stassney Lane will be closed.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the closures as delays are expected.
