We’re learning more about the drowning that happened north of San Marcos on the Blanco River at 5-Mile Dam. Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler says 15 year old Wyatt James Kunze of Lockhart went swimming with his 17-year-old female cousin. Neither were good swimmers but decided to swim across to the other side.
Cutler said that once they started swimming he began to struggle and then went under, but due to her swimming abilities she was unable to save him.
Kunze’s body, according to Cutler, was recovered in about 20 feet of water a short distance from where he went in.
