A bill that would help prescription medicines become cheaper is closer to becoming law

A bill passed unanimously of the Senate Judiciary Committee that seeks to stop big pharma’s anti-competitive behaviors of dodging generic substitution laws and abusing the patent system, to stifle competition.

Senator from Texas John Cornyn co-sponsored the bill.  Cornyn said the bill aims to end the anti-competitive gamesmanship by pharmaceutical companies that keeps many prescription medicines unaffordable through product hopping and patent thicketing.

Cornyn also mentions the bill has bi-partisan support and hopes it will be part of a larger bill to lower prescription prices.
