- An investigation by KXAN found three Austin departments spent over $15,000 on holiday parties
- At least $10,000 was spend on holiday parties for five other City of Austin departments
- The money was reportedly spent on food, gifts and entertainment
- The excessive spending suggests there is no clear policy for how much departments can spend on parties
- A total of $140,532.97 was spent on parties in December from 34 Austin city departments
- Records also show Austin departments spent almost as much as Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth combined.
- Comparatively, Houston spent $80,347.42, Dallas spent $59,799.17 and Fort Worth spent $900.00
