There are over 140 million reasons why Austin’s No-Kill Status is a big deal for animal advocates.

Austin’s animal advocates are sounding the alarm over two finalists for city’s Animal Services Chief they feel could endanger the No-Kill status. Former Animal Advisory Commissioner Larry Tucker says the finalists are unqualified and puts No-Kill in jeopardy. “We saw in a recent University of Denver study that was estimated to be roughly a $140 million dollar windfall to the City of Austin.”

Tucker says No Kill helps lure companies big and small to Austin. “Companies like Google, for example that have put large offices here, looked at our no-kill status and the love for pets as one of the reasons to locate their business here in Austin.”

Tucker wants you to contact the mayor and council and have them stop this now. “Start that process completely over in a way that takes the stakeholders into consideration and engages the public in this process.”
