Two Cedar Park parents are accused of severely injuring their 7-week-old infant earlier this month, causing extensive damage.
On July 6, 2019, the infant was taken to Dell Children’s Hospital with injuries that included brain bleeding, multiple hemmorhages, seizures, strokes, retinal hemorrhage in both eyes, as well as bruising to the chest, abdomen, hip, and tongue, the city says.
One day later, the Department of Family Protective Services contacted the Cedar Park Police Department, which launched an investigation into the parents, Lee Alan Woodard, 21, and Alexis Joan Basques, 21. That investigation led police to believe statements made by both parents were inconsistent with the infant’s injuries.
Lee Woodard is charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Harm. Alexis Basques is charged with Injury to a Child by Omission. Both were arrested on Friday, July 26.
More details have not been provided, including the current condition of the infant.
