City Manager Odis Jones has presented a proposed budget to the city council for the next fiscal year.

“Citizens have demanded a higher level of service, within the ranks of police, parks, streets and drainage to improve the overall quality of life our citizens have come to enjoy, and this budget meets that demand,” said Jones. “As the City of Hutto maintains its status as one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, I believe this proposed budget provides the resources and staff necessary to provide a higher level of service that the citizens expect and it accomplishes that task in accordance with the policies of the City Council.”

The proposed $81-million budget includes the voter-approved tax rate. It also maintains the current utility rate without an increase.

“We thank the voters for their support of the 2018 Bond Election projects that will improve our streets and drainage, parks and public safety,” Jones said. “We want to deliver these projects in the most cost-effective and responsible way possible while ensuring the long-term financial health of our city.”

The budget will be voted on by the city council in September.
