County sees tax limit law differently than City of Austin

As the Austin City Council predicts a $51-million budget deficit by 2024 because of a new 3.5-percent limit on property tax growth, the tone is noticeably different among Travis County leaders.  County budget director Travis Gatlin says there will be an impact. But Gatlin says Travis County will never have a deficit because the budget will be balanced based on each year’s available resources, and nothing more.
