When it comes to safety, a new ranking puts Texas near the bottom of the pack.
Out of the 50 states, Texas has come in 46th overall when it comes to safety, specifically personal and financial safety. Texas scores in the top half for law enforcement employees per capita, but far worse in categories like sex offenders per capita, road safety, and loss amounts from natural disasters.
Jill Gonzalez with WalletHub says the only states that ranked lower than Texas are Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
