The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close the I-35 mainlanes in alternating directions on Tuesday, May 14, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. and on Wednesday, May 15, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. for the demolition of the Posey Road bridge over I-35 in San Marcos. During the closures, I-35 mainlane traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads at the Posey Road exit ramp 199. Drivers wishing to cross I-35 at Posey Road will be detoured to York Creek Road or Centerpoint Road.
As part of the Mobility35 improvements at Posey Road, the mainlanes are being closed over two nights for crews to safely demolish the existing Posey Road bridge. Following the demolition, the north and southbound frontage roads will also close temporarily to complete the bridge removal process. The northbound I-35 frontage road between Posey Road and York Creek Road will be closed on Thursday, May 16 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The southbound I-35 frontage road between York Creek Road and Posey Road will be closed on Friday, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A detour will be in place.
Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures.
These closures are part of the I-35 at Posey Road project that will improve safety and mobility by removing the existing Posey Road bridge over I-35, and constructing the mainlanes of I-35 over Posey Road.
