A fatal crash involving a vehicle and a person on foot ed to the closure of all lanes of southbound I-35 Monday morning.
According to Austin police, the crash happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the 12000 block of southbound I-35, near Onion Creek.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene by Austin-Travis County EMS medics. He was trying to cross I-35 when he was hit.
The closure led to heavy delays for commuters, many of whom were diverted onto the FM 1626 exit.
The lanes were reopened shortly before 8:30 a.m.
