It was a good legislative session for Texas colleges and universities. But Texas kids are barely on par for achieving the State’s 60-30 goal of getting a degree by 2030.
60-30 is referring to the state’s goal of having 60-percent of the college age kids with some sort of degree by 2030. Higher education commissioner Dr. Raymund Paredes believes the Legislature’s school finance overhaul bill will help the state get there. Parades said the K-12 reform bill targets areas we need to improve in if we want to hit our 60-30 goal.
On a media call Paredes said the combination of infusing millions of dollars into the system and easing the credit transfer process should mean savings for students.
