This week, lawmakers will discuss a bill that is proposing to make tolls free for all school buses in the state. Representatives from the Austin school district are expected to testify in support of House Bill 891 tomorrow.
In the nearby Manor school district, transportation director Jackie Fields tells CBS Austin the cost of the tolls adds up, and she supports this kind of legislation.
AISD spends roughly $2.6-million a year on fuel for buses. District officials say waiving the tolls would cut down that cost significantly.
