Austin’s Mayor backs Buttigieg for president

Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg

Austin Mayor Steve Adler travels to South Bend, Indiana to support the presidential campaign of South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who announced his candidacy over the weekend.

Adler said mayors from across America respect Buttigieg because he understands that change happens on the local level.

Adler did take some stage time to take a shot at the President, he said, “wouldn’t it be great if we had a President who was really smart.” He also commented the Trump administration has been so polarizing and dysfunctional that it has helped spotlight the role of city councils in politics across the nation.
Adler said he supports Buttegeig because he’s a Democrat mayor, he’s gay, and he trying to become the youngest president in history.

Unlike when Adler spoke at a Beto O’Rourke rally last month, Adler introduced Buttigieg to the stage as the “next president of the United States.”
