Two people are dead following separate crashes overnight in Austin.
The first happened on North Lamar before 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. A woman was reportedly trying to cross the road when she was hit by a vehicle. The driver sped away and police continue their search. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hours later in the early morning hours of Friday, a man was struck by a vehicle while crossing Riverside Drive near Highway 71. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. Police say the driver stayed behind at the scene. It’s not clear if any charges may be filed.
