A new report outlines a handful of options for the future expansion of the Austin Convention Center:
The report outlines the possibility of spending anywhere from $450,000 to $1-billion on differing levels of development at or around the Convention Center. While the Univesity of Texas report does not prioritize any specific recommendation, the expansion options show the area growing between 360,000 and 1-million square feet, allowing for multi-million dollar private developments surrounding the expansion the report says are currently dead zones. However, all of the report’s expansion recommendations show that the city would end up losing money from property tax revenue.
