The argument against the bus cameras is similar to the argument against red light cameras. State Representative Jonathan Stickland said this kind of surveillance is an unconstitutional revenue generator.
Stop arm cameras have led to around 40-thousand tickets being written by Austin ISD police since 2016, about 14-thousand of which were issued just last year.
