Austin’s Transportation Department has begun putting down scooter boxes on sidewalks to get them out of pedestrians’ way downtown. The department’s Jacob Culberson says the twenty-foot by eight-foot spaces are marked with reflective tape and city signage.
The boxes are usually between a parking space and stop signs or traffic lights. Culberson says they have about ten of them now with plans to put down more around and outside of downtown.
