The ball is rolling at Austin City Hall toward 60-thousand new low-income housing units in Austin by the year 2027. Council member Greg Casar said Austin’s lack of affordable housing is something the city has ignored for too long.
The plan focus thousands of units in wealthier parts of Austin that will be made available to families making less than 80-percent of the median area income.
Other priorities includ protecting tenants from eviction and making sure people with criminal histories are not excluded.
