Four suspects charged in the beating of two gay men downtown last month

When Frank Macias was arrested for the beating of two gay men in downtown Austin, he named his brother and two others as accomplices when he confessed to the crime.

APD Assistant Chief Eli Reyes said the Travis County Hate Crime Task Force was involved and they’ve been busy the past couple of years.

DA Margaret Moore says the Hate Crime aspect raises the aggravated assault charges to a first degree felony.
