DPS troopers have been following school buses this week to make sure drivers are following the rules when it comes to passing while a bus has its lights flashing. Lieutenant Lonny Haschel says a lot of people who get stopped just aren’t paying attention. That mistake, however, can be very costly. Fines for illegal bus passing can be as high as $1250. More than 22-thousand kids ride the bus to and from school each day in Austin.
