The Austin school board will vote on Monday evening to change the name of Fulmore Middle School.  Named after former Travis County Judge Zachary Taylor Fulmore, who was also a trustee for the Texas School for the Blind, AISD has opted to do away with the name because of Fulmore’s ties to the Confederate Army.

If approved by AISD, Fulmore Middle School will become Sarah Beth Lively Middle School, named after a former educator who worked on the campus for 25 years.

Two other schools have already seen name changes: Robert E. Lee Elementary and Allan Elementary.

Other campuses that still may face a change include Lanier High School, Reagan High School, and Eastside Memorial High School’s Johnston campus.
