An Austin Uber driver is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly punching a passenger in the mouth following a political argument.

Police records filed today say last month, the unnamed victim told 28-year-old Uber driver Glenn Etienne to take him to the 2500 block Spring Creek Drive Along the way got into a spat over politics. The affidavit says once they arrived Etienne followed the victim out of the car with a hunting knife, challenging him to a fight. The victim told the driver it wasn’t manly to pull a knife on him so Etienne set knife down on the hood of his car then cold-cocked the victim and fled. Police were called and Etienne admitted to slapping the passenger. He could face two to twenty years in prison.
