Citizens want the City of Austin to let voters weigh in on the deal to let a professional soccer team build a stadium on city-owned land in North Austin.

IndyAustin’s Linda Curtis said they’re circulating a petition to get the the City’s and Precourt Sports Venture’s deal put to a vote in May. Curtis called the agreement a backdoor deal with PSV with no oversight. She said their petition would fix that, as not only would the city council get a vote on the deal, so would citizens.

Curtis is opposed to the deal which excuses PSV from paying property taxes for decades which she said negatively impacts the city, county, AISD, ACC and Central Health.
