The East Austin Schools Manifesto Coalition is still demanding boundary changes in AISD, even going so far as to threaten lawsuits or a complete split from AISD. But Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz says a large amount of last year’s $1-billion bond package is making East Austin a priority, including the new Govalle Elementary.
Cruz says the $25-million upgrades to Sanchez Elementary, a new campus in Northeast Austin, and several new college-level course offered in prodominantly low0income campuses all point to East Austin being a priority for AISD.
