The next Austin Driver’s License Recovery Clinic from 3 to 6 p.m. is scheduled for today, Friday, Nov. 30, at the Doris Miller Recreation Center, 2300 Rosewood Ave.

The purpose of the clinic is to help individuals who have lost their licenses due to Department of Public Safety surcharges. Licenses will not be reinstated on site. No arrests will be made on site.

At the event:

  • University of Texas law students will perform intake and assessments and help with financial forms.
  • Attorneys will help people resolve outstanding cases and apply for hardship or service waivers.
  • Austin Municipal Court staff and judges will be available.

All services are provided free of charge. People will be asked to show some form of ID upon entry. Acceptable forms of ID include a license, utility bill, library card, social security card, or photo ID. Spanish interpreters will be available.

Although the clinic is geared toward individuals with license issues (Driving While License Invalid, for example), staff and volunteers also will provide assistance for resolution on other Municipal Court cases.

This clinic, offered by Austin Municipal Court (AMC); Texas Fair Defense Project; and University of Texas School of Law Mithoff Pro Bono Program. It is a continuation of AMC’s efforts in community outreach and providing off-site court services. The Court’s plan is to offer these clinics each quarter.
