An alleged drug addict led police on a wild chase that ended with a rollover crash, SWAT standoff

An alleged meth head who assaulted a hospital employee, led police on a chase that ended with a rollover crash and a SWAT standoff is now behind bars. It happened near 620 and State Highway 45 yesterday. Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody says it started with the suspect hitting a nurse or other employee as he was fleeing an off-duty deputy. Chody says it became a chase and Austin Police helped by putting out spike strips to stop the suspect.

He was making threats to harm himself or police, prompting the SWAT standoff. After about an hour he was taken from the vehicle, treated for his injuries and arrested. The unnamed suspect faces multiple charges.
