After pleading guilty to Injury to a Child by Omission and Tampering with Evidence back in August, Meagan Work will be sentenced this week, four years after her 2-year-old son, Colton Turner, was found buried in a shallow grave in southeast Austin.
Work had initially been charged with Injury to a Child, which essentially pointed the finger at Work herself for the toddler’s death. In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to lessen the charge to Omission.
Work’s then-boyfriend Michael Turner pleaded guilty in 2016 to Injury to a Child and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Meagan Work is facing five to 99 years in prison. Sentencing will begin Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. The sentencing hearing could stretch through the week.
