The American Civil Liberties Union has been a driving force behind the recent ban on President Trump’s effort to block illegal immigrants from being granted asylum. ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt says it makes no sense that the federal government would expect all immigrants to enter through the same place.
Gelernt says illegal immigrants have a right under the U.S. Constitution to cross the Texas-Mexico border and receive asylum, no matter how or where they’ve entered the country.
