As the City of Lakeway considers changes to its code enforcement ordinance, the city council is also considering changes to the number of permits required to remodel homes. Mayor Sandy Cox said the amount of city red tape makes home remodeling a daunting task.
Cox and most of the city council are in agreement that the permitting process should be streamlined, allowing a homeowner move forward with repairs without having to deal with an abundance of city red tape.
The council will be looking at ways to streamline the permitting process to separate simple repairs from complete overhauls, allowing residents to have more autonomy over changes to their own home.
