Three of eight shootings this year in Austin involved multiple officers firing

Austin police records show three of the past eight officer-involved shootings have included five or more officers opening fire at once.  As the Statesman reports, between 2008 and 2017 there were zero shootings that involved more than four officers.

APD Chief Brian Manley said he recognizes that this year has been unique in that regard, but he also says each of the shootings this year involving five or more officers have also had their own unique factors that required the extra force.
